Unintended consequences

Neither MD nor I felt much like eating this weekend, what with the hacking and the snotting and the generally feeling like crap. Fine for us, but then at around 5 p.m. on Sunday Jamie started complaining,”My tummy hurts, I’m HUNGRY.” And suddenly it occurred to me, the entire day he had eaten: 3 bites of scrambled egg, 1 bite of muffin, some cheese, and a piece of cornbread. Sure, that’s the normal intake for a lot of preschoolers, but this is the kid that can consume 75% of a box of macaroni and cheese. No, there was no getting around it. We had completely forgotten to feed our child that day. Add another notch to our bad parenting belt.

We do that all the time. Usually Rosalyn, the walking stomach, reminds us it’s feed time.

*lifting hand* we’ve done that as well.
