Still not gonna eat it

The FDA has ruled that cloned meat/dairy is safe for human consumption, and that it needn’t to be labeled as such. Cloned, that is.

Yeah, I have a problem with that, and no, not because it’s gross or too much like science fiction, but because it takes us further and further away from our food sources. What motivation do we have to consume responsibly if we can clone all the food we want? And why bother treating animals humanely when we can just make more?

My guess is this will be one more reason to buy organic and/or from local, trusted sources in the future. And while I’ll be happy to have the power to control what we put on our own table, the wider implications are disturbing, to say the least.

Nothing like preaching to the choir, but seriously! How on earth do we teach our children where our food comes from? Is this just another way to fill the masses with junk, so they become less than viable on this earth? It sickens me to think what the majority of people eat in this society. It saddens me to know the children are helpless to their care giver’s choices and it angers me knowing our government regulators deem this okay. Because we all know the group targeted for cheap, low quality food are the poor, financially. ARGH!
